HISTORY

Our Roots

Grandview Cabinetry’s roots go all the way back to 1946. Over the decades, the company has grown and expanded. In 2018, the Zetmeir family entrusted their long-time industry friend Stan Tidwell with ownership of the company. The Tidwell family ensured the company’s continued devotion to faith, family, and community while introducing a number of exciting new innovations. Today, with nearly 200 employees and over 220,000 square feet of manufacturing space, Grandview Cabinetry continues to flourish.

1946: Grandview Products Co. is founded. Emil Zetmeir and Julius Goings start Grandview Products Co. in Grandview, Missouri. The firm produces specialty millwork including store fixtures, fireplace mantels, and trim pieces. Grandview gains a reputation for quality, affordable products.

1965: The company relocates to Parsons, Kansas in order to expand.

1969: A new 30,000-square-foot manufacturing facility is built.

1973: An additional 80,000-square-foot manufacturing facility is built.

1982: Founder Emil Zetmeir retires. His son, E.F. “Sonny” Zetmeir, purchases the company with his wife, Sophia.

1995: The manufacturing facility expands with an additional 36,000 square feet.

1996: A second location in Cherryvale, Kansas is added. Grandview acquires M&M Moulders, expanding operations into Cherryvale.

2005: Grandview Cabinets continues to grow and expand. Grandview purchases an additional 20,000-square-foot building and hires approximately 50 more employees.

2008: Grandview weathers the Great Recession – then bounces back. Due to the housing market decline, Grandview is forced to lay off 60% of its workforce. Zetmeir manages to keep the company afloat, and, after the company regains its footing in the market, rehires many former employees.

2013: The Parsons community mourns the loss of E. F. “Sonny” Zetmeir. A longtime philanthrope, Zetmeir donated cabinets to community projects, churches, and schools, and sponsored numerous projects and events in Parsons. The company, and the entire town, is saddened by his passing. Sonny’s wife, Sophia, takes over leadership of the company.

2018: Sophia Zetmeir retires, and the company welcomes new owner, Stan Tidwell. Sophia Zetmeir retires to spend more time with her grandchildren. She ensures the legacy of Grandview continues on, and that the Grandview work family remains intact, by selling to long-time industry friend, Stan Tidwell, current Owner/CEO of Grandview Cabinetry.

Today: Grandview Cabinetry continues to build its legacy. Grandview Cabinetry has reinvigorated its name and logo, started a quarterly e-newsletter, improved box construction methods, upgraded the finishing process, and introduced new company family traditions like our tenure program and Christmas baskets. We look forward to the next 75 years with each other – and with you!
